Dr. Gregory Eck


Dr. Gregory Eck began teaching when he was 17 years old. He began teaching guitar lessons to interested students, traveling from house-to-house, teaching beginners, intermediate, and advanced students how to play the guitar. He taught music theory in three Catholic schools from 1976 through 1981. From 1981 through 1994, he taught a variety of subjects at the Upper Room Christian School, located in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York. He became the school’s Principal in 1994 and the Headmaster of the school in 2014. He continues to work remotely for the school from his new home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Dr. Eck has an earned doctorate in Educational Administration, two master’s degrees (Early Childhood Education and a Master of Divinity degree), and a B.A. in Music Education. He has taught many students privately since the early 2010s at Upper Room, especially in SAT and ACT preparation classes. He has tutored for Varsity Tutors since 2018 and Club Z! Tutoring since the start of 2022. He has seen many students succeed in their test-taking efforts, as well as significant academic improvement in the subjects he has taught them. Dr. Eck is committed to the students he teaches and inspires many to succeed. He has also tutored adults for the GRE exam, and the CIA (certified internal auditor) exam. He has also helped students prepare for the PSAT, SSAT, and the ISEE standardized tests. Dr. Eck has also taught two college courses for St. John’s University credit at his school – Foundations of Education and Educational Psychology for more than ten years. Dr. Eck is married to Ann Marie Eck. They have two grown daughters – Nicole and Sarah, and two grandchildren, Gabriella and Matteo.
